The story takes us through his childhood, marriage with his childhood sweeth I chose this because I don’t know much about Hungarian history and wanted to learn more. They later elope to avert arranged marriage.

Once upon a time, I met a girl that was to become my partner in life and in parenthood. Geza Gardonyi tells a good story leading up to the battle – he follows the plight of one soldier from his youth while inter-weaving several other characters. The characters are interesting and there are few lulls in the action. It’s quite amazing really. Online used bookstores are great!

At first things seem a bit too coincidental, but after several chapters you will look forward to the “run-ins. The writing was well done, the vocabulary fairly high and challenging, and the characters were developed amazingly well.
